Colour me what? Color Me Rad!!

Today was the big day! The Color Me Rad run! I woke up at about 6am with butterflies in my tummy. I was so excited. I knew I should eat something, so I had some granola and yogurt. I figured since my run was still 3 hours away, I'd be okay with a bit of dairy and some carbs.

For the next hour I paced around the house and tried to get my husband to move faster to get ready to leave. I didn't want to be late! I finally got his butt out the door and away we went. Call me a geek, but I was so excited to see all the fellow Color Me Rad runners on their way to the run. We saw tons of them on the way there...made obvious by the fact they were all decked out in white like me! Next year, I'm going all out! There were people running in wedding dresses and with tutus on! I'm going to have to get creative by next year....

The race itself was SO MUCH FUN! If I was going to ease back into 5km running, this was definitely the run to start with. I ran with the Burnaby Hit team. What a great time! At each colour station we stopped and threw the paint/cornstarch at each other. Occassionally we rolled around in the colour on the ground. And we had all the volunteers dousing us with the paint with their spray guns. By the end of the race, I looked like this:

But for the full understanding of how fun this was....here's the before and after pic complements of my hubby!

After the race, my hubby covered the car seat with sleeping bags and towels and we headed home. On the way, we stopped for a Starbucks. I thought it was much deserved! Note my green hand.

I really enjoyed my soy chai latte! When we got home, I went straight into the shower. Let me just say that this stuff got EVERYWHERE!! How my toes and stomach were green and pink respectively, I'm not too sure. Let's just say I looked like I had run in a bikini. I was covered! And the stuff isn't that easy to get off either! I think I scrubbed in the shower for an hour....and I came out mostly clean!

My husband and I then had plans to go to White Rock. Before we left, I had a piece of toast to tie me over until later.

Unfortunately mother nature had different plans for us. When we arrived in White Rock, it was overcast and drizzling outside. What the hell happened to the sun?? Suddenly eating ice cream along the pier seemed less appealing. So did eating on one of the outdoor patios. We walked around a bit, looked in some shops and then gave up and headed home. Sigh.

By the time we got home, I was starving! So I heated up the last of my leftover Minestrone soup and had some crackers and hummous to go with it.

By this time it was around 4pm. So I decided what the hell! And I had a glass of wine. Also well deserved.

And for dessert, a protein bar.

I'm not sure what happened between eating the above things and 8pm. I seem to have lost track of time watching TV and doing things around the house.  But once I realized the time, I woke up my hubby who was sleeping on his chair and we got ready to go to our movie date. I was still celebrating my super fun run so I wore some Color Me Rad swag!

When we got to the theatre, my husband and I ordered a combo with a large popcorn and two regular drinks. He likes ketchup flavouring on his popcorn and I don't. So I asked the concession guy for a little bag to separate some out for me.

I only ate what was in that little bag. And I had some 7up too.

My husband was being a Tommy texter! Just kidding...this was before the movie started. But I may have to reassess whether or not I want to have a movie date with him again. Why? Because about halfway through the movie I looked over and he was sleeping in his chair. I REALLY should've taken a picture!

After the movie, we went home. We thought about heading downtown for some city night life, but were both too tired (me rightly so - him not so much...he had a nap after all haha). Unfortunately I felt sick the whole ride home...apparently I still haven't learned that junk food makes my body feel gross. Thank god I don't make a point of eating it often. When we got home, exhausted, we went straight to bed. No time for my blog last night...I likely would've fallen asleep at the desk. So here it is today...better late than never ;-)
