I started off the morning with some raspberry yogurt with Kashi honey almond flax cereal. I have come to love this breakfast...so much that I'm out of cereal. I hope somewhere has it on sale this week, 'cause it's not cheap!
As you can see, I was so gung ho to eat my breakfast that I forgot to take a picture until halfway through! But I took one anyway.
After I ate, I went to Burnaby Hit. Today's instructor was Zunobia and as always she pushed us hard. I swear each and every time I was about to give up, she was watching and yelled the words of encouragement I needed to hear. Impeccable timing that girl!
When I got home, I ate a protein bar. I'm so happy to have these in my fridge again. Delicious.
A quick shower later and my hubby and I were off for our bike riding adventure. Our plan was to rent bikes from Bayshore Bike Rentals, bike around Stanley Park and then as far along the seawall we could go.
My hubby is funny huh? I love him! He always makes me smile. :-)
It has been a real long time since I rode a bicycle, so it took some getting used to...but I figured it out. We biked from Stanley park (beautiful), through Yaletown (beautiful), past the Science World area (not as beautiful) to False Creek/Granville Island (beautiful again) where we stopped for lunch/dinner (it was like 5pm, but we hadn't eaten since the late am).
My hubby had some Chinese food and I had a falafel wrap. Besides the falafel, it had lettuce, tomato and a tahini sauce. It was good. I also had a can of sprite. I don't know why I bought pop. The whole time I drank it I kept saying "I don't even like this stuff". I think I have problems... The good news is that we got to talk on the phone with our daughter while we had lunch! She's doing great on her trip and having a really fun time. I miss her though. And I felt a little guilty 'cause she really wanted to rent bikes to bike the seawall before she left for her trip, but we ran out of time. Guess we'll have to do it again when she gets back!
After we ate lunch we continued our ride up to the Burrard Bridge. We stopped for a break under the bridge and my husband teased me until I showed him how strong I am.
Yay! I have some muscles in my arms again! Note my lovely biking foot wear. Somehow it worked.
At this point it was around 6pm so we decided to head back. We got halfway back and my knee started being dumb. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but it more or less felt like someone stabbed me in the knee. We stopped twice on the way back, but because I'm stubborn, I managed to bike the rest of the way back to the rental store. My knee still hurts! I'm a bit worried because the plan is to run 3 times this week and enter the Colour Me Rad 5km run next weekend...I'll have to see how my knee is doing tomorrow.
After we returned the bikes (GREAT date by the way...had so much fun), we stopped in Starbucks where I got my weekend soy chai latte. I thought it was well deserved! After all, my hubby and I biked 30.1 km. I mapped it.
Next stop - home. Somehow neither of us was overly hungry, so I made myself up a little plate of Mary's Organic Crackers, grapes and almonds (10 of each) with a Tbs of hummous. So good. And it was enough - I wasn't hungry at all anymore.
And that was my eating (and other stuff) day. Personally, I thought it was pretty fantastic. I realized that although I really miss my daughter...spending ;just me and my hubby' time is pretty great too! And on that note...it's time to go. Rumour has it there's a meteor shower tonight, and I want to see it! Goodnight!
