Actually, it really wasn't that bad. Monday morning I made time for cereal. Kashi honey almond flax cereal with raspberry yogurt to be specific. My daughter joined in and had some for breakfast too. Yum....
I was worried that more bodies in my house in the morning would equal more chaos ('cause we don't have chaotic enough mornings around here). Turns out it was the exact opposite. My dad was a great help and walked my daughter to school. My chicklet was on her best behaviour because we had guests and so was cooperative with getting ready. Win, win, win all around.
Once at work, by mid morning I wanted a snack. Luckily I had found time to throw a small container of grapes and almonds into my purse...with my husband's help.
I believe he said there were 12 of each...
Unfortunately that's where my food organization ended. I hadn't made a lunch for myself. The plan was to go grocery shopping Sunday evening, but that didn't happen 'cause I hung out with my dad and his girlfriend instead. The result? No lunch food in my house. For me at least. Somehow, I always manage to have lunch stuff for my kid. So this meant that if I wanted lunch today I was going to have to resume my love affair with takeout. And I did.
I kept it simple with Subway. It was a 6 inch veggie sub on wheat bread. Toppings included white cheddar, lettuce, green peppers, red onions, cucumbers, jalepenos and sweet onion dressing. I more or less wolfed it down.
After stressing and obsessing over a difficult report, the end of the work day was much appreciated. I raced home, met up with my dad and his girlfriend and then went to my daughter's school to be a volunteer driver for her cross country team. They had their first district meet today! I cheered and yelled and ran across the field to support my daughter. I'm a fanatic like that. She ran almost all of the race (two quick stops) and finished in the middle of the pack...number 74. And I couldn't have been prouder. She gave it her all and did pretty damn good! After all this was after only two practices! Plus, for the first part of the race she was second from the end. Good job girl!
We went home afterwards and she got tons of hugs...from me, from her papa and from his girlfriend. And later, from her dad (he couldn't come 'cause of work...boo). I then got changed and headed to Burnaby Hit. Time for my own workout! I got there and the gym was packed. Everyone wanted to Hit today! The energy was great, the atmosphere was motivating and I got a kick ass workout in. When I was done, I went to pick up my hubby from work, then went back home. And when I got there, I ate a protein bar.
Luckily, I had thrown together the ingredients for the protein bars before I went to Burnaby Hit so that I'd have something to munch on after my workout. Nice thinking huh? I also poured myself a glass of wine and then I got busy with making supper.
I decided pasta would be a good choice. After all, who doesn't like pasta? Plus the tomato-basil cheese baked pasta that I was thinking of makes lots - perfect for feeding my family + 2...and with leftovers for tomorrow!
I also made Ceasar salad with dinner and made a point of doing half-half on my plate. Half salad - half pasta. The bad news is that I did it on a full sized plate instead of a salad sized one (insert ashamed face here).
After dinner, we sat in the living room, chatted, watched TV and drank more wine.
Yikes. Looks like eating properly and limiting my alcohol intake is going to be tricky with visiting family! I s it bad if I say, I'm not that upset about it 'cause it's not an every day thing? I will however, try not to overdo my indulgences for the next few days. We'll see how I do.
And that was my eating day. Food, wine, family and cause for celebration (my daughter's run). And exercise. Can't forget the exercise. All in all, I went to bed with a smile on my face today!
